Bill Bryson
Since its purchase in 2007 Bill Bryson has curated the property with mindful inspiration and purpose with a vision to put it to use to benefit individuals and a broad community through the arts, culture and nature. Bryson’s background has been focused in the arts since moving to Gainesville in 1992. Through opening and operating a live music club from 1992-2000, publishing an arts and culture monthly magazine from 2002-2009, creating and operating an internet radio station from 2009-2014, producing large art exhibitions in unexpected spaces in Gainesville between 2011 and 2014, owning and operating unique businesses in the hospitality sector between 2014 and 2022, producing a Florida-focused music television program in 2016 and 2017, and being a supportive patron of the arts in the community all along the way Bryson has contributed greatly to enhance the overall living experience in the surrounding area through the arts. Bryson also gained a greater sense of the value of land conservation through his experience of a decade’s service on the board of Alachua Conservation Trust, a local land trust. Bryson holds bachelors degrees from the University of North Carolina in Communications and Psychology along with a deep background in the natural sciences. He’s lived and traveled abroad extensively thereby gaining a greater sense of the world we live in. With these experiences and principles in mind the vision for Bryson County Retreat has evolved and will continue to grow and develop to further support and propel artists and the community through creative endeavors.
